Converting a world class stadium into a field hospital This proposal is submitted by the Blue IQ/ Boogertman + Partners consortium in response to a request received from the Department of Health on 28 March 2020 to investigate the possibility of using Soccer City as a temporary hospital facility to service the needs of increasing burden being placed on medical facilities during the COVID-19 virus pandemic. This proposal assumes that, during such an outbreak, the existing healthcare facilities will not be able to provide the scale of care necessary to support widespread infection of the virus. In this scenario, the existing healthcare facilities will be overwhelmed and unable to cope with the influx of infected patients, and new field hospitals must be created
