The Momentum Metropolitan Holdings building in Centurion has undergone a comprehensive renovation and compliance update. The original design, created by Boogertman + Partners about 25 years ago, has been revitalized. The project includes the complete overhaul of all services in the building and uses the opportunity to reimagine all the office areas and the main social spine of the building into a collaborative working, meeting and socializing space for all staff and visitors.
The social spine extends from the main entrance, that now ensures a similar arrival experience for both staff and visitors, all the way through the main atrium, a food offering, meeting clusters, training centres, and convenience retail, and ends in an upgraded external entertainment and social space anchored by an events platform. Our involvement covers all aspects of architectural and interior design, including the design and selection of furniture and fixtures. Some of the furniture was procured from local SMME suppliers.

We’ve seen a shift in focus for large corporate companies from a centralized workforce to a decentralized office and the subsequent rise in interest in second-tier cities and alternative places of work. The impact of building vacancies is opening up opportunities for new typologies and for the re-appropriation of buildings and spaces. Three emerging trends are beginning to dominate when it comes to re-occupying the workplace - the physical, the digital or virtual realm, and the experiential. MMH was conceptualized as an office of future work, where one can almost imagine the workplace as a Maslow Hierarchy of Needs to meet our physical, mental and financial well-being.
