The proposed new head offices for WPP Scangroup, who are part of the WPP multinational marketing and advertising group, is to be based on the Vashtu Shastra design principals as required by the local leadership team. The 10 000msq building is set in a densely treed site with access and service roads along the southern, eastern and northern boundaries. The ground plus 4 storey building is pushed as far back to the southern boundary as possible to leave as much of the northern portion of the site untouched. The 9 block, (3 x 3) square floor plan is raised on a landscaped podium that ties back to the existing treed site and allows for the main East facing entrance to be accessed via gentle stairs and ramp. The double volume entrance allows for secure entrance to a central swirling stair and circulation core that allows the building to be naturally ventilated and to allow rainwater collection into the heart of the atrium. The atrium is roofed over with a rainwater collection funnel that is raised above the surrounding accessible roof that places the staff at the same level as the adjacent forest tree canopy. The façade treatment is identical on all four sides allowing for full height floor to ceiling glazing set back from large treated timber vertical screens placed at varying centres to deal with the relevant location and sun screening requirements. This treatment references its specific location within the heavily treed site with the timber eventually taking on the natural patina of the forest. The simple block form is raised above the 3-level parking podium which is hidden behind an earth berm. The raise podium allows for controlled
